About the Role

The Project engineer position is responsible for the timely and efficient construction of all mechanical
systems within a residential home, and the complete culmination of the project. The project engineer
will lead the project, from the terrain initial analysis, through the final inspection of the finished project.

The candidate will provide innovative design solutions for the mechanical, electrical, and structural
systems inside a residential house project. The selected candidate will be expected to lead diverse
multidiscipline teams, provide technical oversight, delegate tasks, and work with the residential
general’s contractors to establish technology homes maps, enable modernization, and contribute to
general innovation. In addition, the candidate will work with customer personnel to define and refine
requirements to validate project compliance. The candidate will provide guidance, coaching, mentoring,
and training to other employees across the business within the candidate’s areas of expertise. The
candidate will be responsible for the timely and efficient construction of all mechanical systems within a
residential home, and the complete culmination of the project. The project engineer will lead the
project, from the initial terrain analysis and first stage of design of each residential home, through the
final inspection of the finished project.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the Valenzuela Brothers Construction

System.

Follow detailed floor plan instructions, chronograms, and specifications.

Travel to the field 80% of the time.

Safely operate compact impact drives and mechanical tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, pipe cutters

Report problems with quality, process, equipment, and materials to subcontractors.

Report work progress to investors and owners of the project.

Meets project schedule as assigned.

Coordinate successfully a team of subcontractors required to build a complete residential home.

Design of mechanical and structural systems for a residential home such as water distribution systems;

Cold water, hot water, drainage and sewer, irrigation, and water treatment. HVAC systems, electrical

distribution, and structural design.

Read and make sitemaps and floorplans.

Installation of water distribution pipe and accessories.

Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Keep track of payments to subcontractors and material stores.

Development of technical proposals and project estimates.

Requirements verification test floor planning and execution.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance

instructions, and procedure manuals.

Utilizes common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.

Ability to read and make site and floor plans.

Provides accurate work on a consistent basis of state standards.

Interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team.

Ability to demonstrate flexibility in a work environment by performing various frequently changing

tasks.

Ability to work alone effectively under stress and in situations dangerous to self or others.

Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.

Ability to stay organized and order materials around the construction site

Have a valid US driver’s license

Education and Experience

Qualifications You Must Have

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture, and 4 to 5 years or more

experience working in an engineering position, from 1 - 2 years or more experience in a project

engineer-type position, 2 to 3 years of experience in the field, and 2 to 3 years of experience in the

design of mechanical-electrical systems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills bilingual Spanish /English.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:

Continually required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.; stand.

Continually required to use mechanical devices and tools.

Continually required to be exposed to open spaces, directly to the sun up to 4 hours a day.

Occasionally required to sit; ascend or descend ladders, stairs, or ramps; turn wrenches, valves, or

handles; bend or twist; use upper extremities; reach above shoulders; reach to full extension.
